Research into innovative therapies for aggressive brain tumors in children is also the focus of Johannes Gojo's work as part of the professorship. "I am particularly interested in translational approaches and possibilities for precision medicine," says the new Professor of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology, who pursues international collaborations at the highest level.
In his new role, Gojo will also be driving forward the establishment of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Center Vienna as an interdisciplinary facility at MedUni Vienna (Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Neurochemistry and Neuropathology, Department of Neuroradiology and Musculoskeletal Radiology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Center for Cancer Research) under the umbrella of the Comprehensive Center for Pediatrics and the Comprehensive Cancer Center of MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital. The aim is to provide young patients with the best possible care and to carry out studies to further develop therapeutic options. Johannes Gojo is also focusing on research into new biomarkers ("liquid biopsies") in order to develop better diagnostic procedures for children and young people with cancer.
