Young CCC

Connecting young cancer researchers & oncology experts

Young CCC represents the young cancer researchers and oncology staff within the CCC. Its task is to define the needs of young researchers and integrate them into the CCC's strategy.

The Young CCC creates a platform for multidisciplinary teaching, mentoring programs and scientific exchange. The resulting network promotes research activities, clinical interaction and communication among the young CCC members.

Dear  All!

Dear Members,

we warmly invite you to our upcoming Excursion: with Franziska Eckert & Team.

This excursion provides a unique opportunity to get insights into the workflows of and equipment used in radiation oncology. We will start with very short introductory lectures from perspectives of radiation oncologists, medical radiation physicists and radiotherapy technicians.

Four steps of the treatment process will be demonstrated practically: 1) Therapy preparation, including patient positioning and radiotherapy masks, 2) Radiotherapy planning with defining "target volumes" and calculating and optimizing dose distribution, 3) Treatment at the Linear Accelerator (LINAC) including image-guided radiotherapy, 4) Technical aspects of LINACs.

The program is tailored for medical doctors wanting to gain insight into what happens at radiation oncology, as well as preclinical researchers seeking an understanding of clinical treatments in this field. No prior knowledge is required.Anyone working in oncology and oncology research should have a basic idea about radiation oncology to improve their ability to communicate with patients and to gain better understanding of the role of radiation in cancer treatment.

Dear Members,

We warmly invite you to our upcoming Workshop: with Thomas Mohr.

This bioinformatics workshop provides a practical introduction to the analysis of high-throughput omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
Participants will learn the fundamental concepts behind experimental design, data preprocessing, quality control, statistical analysis, and biological interpretation.

Through hands-on sessions using real-world datasets and widely adopted tools, we will explore key steps such as differential expression analysis, functional enrichment, and data visualization. The workshop is designed for students and researchers with basic knowledge of molecular biology who want to gain essential computational skills for extracting meaningful insights from complex biological data.
