Third Strebel medal for Vienna

After Richard Pötter and Christian Kirisits, Alina Emiliana Sturdza is the third recipient of the Strebel Medal at the Medical University of Vienna.

The German Society of Radiation Oncology (DEGRO) honoured her with this award together with its sister societies from Austria (ÖGRO) and Switzerland (SASRO).  The medal was presented at the 11th Brachytherapy Symposium in Bonn. It is named after Hermann Strebel (1868-1943), a pioneer of radiotherapy. This award is given for special achievements in the field of brachytherapy.

Dr Alina Sturdza completed her training in radiation oncology at the University of Toronto, Princess Margaret Hospital, and has been a member of the radiation oncology team at the Medical University of Vienna since 2008.

Her area of interest is image-guided brachytherapy for gynaecological malignancies, elderly patients, re-irradiation and education.
